How we handle your information.
Effective 23 October 2026. What we collect through signalindex.site, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have.
Signal Index (“we”, “us”) is a research-led editorial studio for B2B companies. We operate signalindex.site (the “site”) and are responsible for the personal information collected through it.
Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to hello@signalindex.site.
We collect only what we need to respond to you and keep the site secure.
- What you send us. When you use the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the type of request, and your message. If you email us directly, we receive whatever you include.
- Sent with the form. The address of the page you submitted from, how long the form was open (used only to filter out automated spam), and your approximate location — country, region, city and time zone — worked out from your IP address at the moment you use the form. We do not keep the IP address itself in our records.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
This site does not use cookies, advertising trackers or third-party analytics. We do not ask you to create an account.
We use your information to:
- reply to your message and, where relevant, arrange a conversation about working together;
- understand where requests come from and judge whether we are the right fit;
- protect the site and our systems from spam, abuse and security threats;
- keep reasonable business records and meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means.
Where data protection law such as the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: legitimate interests (responding to business enquiries and keeping the site secure); steps before entering a contract (when you ask about working with us); legal obligation; and consent where we ask for it, which you may withdraw at any time.
We share information only with service providers that help us run the site and respond to you, and only as needed:
- Google. Form submissions are stored in Google Sheets through Google Apps Script, and notifications reach us by Google-hosted email. Your browser also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
- IP-location services. To estimate your approximate location, your browser contacts a public IP-location service (currently geojs.io, with ipwho.is as a back-up). These services see your IP address, as any website you connect to does. They do not receive your name, email or message.
- Hosting provider. Our host delivers the site and may keep server logs.
We may also disclose information to professional advisers, where the law requires it, or to a successor if the business is sold or reorganised. We do not share it for anyone’s marketing.
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for those transfers.
We keep enquiries for as long as we need to respond and, if we begin working together, for the length of the relationship plus a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are reviewed and deleted once they are no longer needed. We may keep information longer where the law requires it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate information corrected, or have it deleted;
- restrict or object to our use of it, or ask to receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email hello@signalindex.site. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within the time the law requires, usually one month. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority. California residents have equivalent rights to know, correct and delete their information; we do not sell it or share it for cross-context advertising, and we will not treat you differently for exercising a right.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive or confidential information through the contact form.
This site is for business use and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.
